In Win Dragon Slayer – Externals

The packaging is all-black with an eye-catching graphic illustrating the case’s name – Dragon Slayer. Inside, the accessory bundle is contained within a small bag: In Win’s favourite fluorescent yellow hard drive rails are once again on show, although a little refined and numbering six in total.

In addition to these, are four clips intended for cable management with adhesive backs allowing them to be positioned anywhere in the case and a multitude of different screws. The lack of a manual does require you to spend a few moments working out which screws are for which components but it’s no big issue.

With the M-ATX form factor, the Dragon Slayer is fairly compact and clad in a silver-grey meshing somewhat resembling chainmail. Indeed the whole chassis appears to have been styled around the sword-wielding Knight shown on the packaging with the rugged, armour-esque front fascia and extra chainmail (meshing) on the side panel.

Starting with the front panel, there are four removable covers: the top two for installing a 5.25” and 3.5” device and the lower two concealing the fan on the hard drive cage.

The I/O panel features the standard 2 x USB 2.0 and microphone and headphone jacks but the Dragon Slayer is also one of the first cases to fit a USB 3.0 connection for accommodating the new standard. The power button sits just below and a large In Win logo further down that illuminates upon firing the PC up.

Moving around to the side panel, cooling expandability is displayed in the form of four optional 120mm fans in order to boost airflow. Besides a small vent at the bottom, the adjacent side panel is simply plain gun-metal grey.

At the back, all the elements we’d expect from an Micro-ATX case are present: grommet-filled water-cooling holes at the top, a 90mm exhaust fan, five PCI slots and a bottom mounted power supply.

The four feet complete with rubber pads on the underside of the enclosure complete the external overview of the Dragon Slayer.
