Methodology
Tests for the ICY BOX will consist of running two well known benchmarking software’s. We will run the data transferring test on both the 3.0 ICY BOX and compare the transfer speeds with a ordinary USB 2.0 docking station, which will allow us to see how much more performance you get buy purchasing this product.
Test suits consist of:
- CrystalDiskMark
- HD Tune
For the testing, we will be using a 1TB Western Digital 8MB Cache 6Gbps Hard drive for all the tests.
CrystalDiskMark
The results show that the ICY BOX is certainly able to boost your external drives transfer speeds via the USB 3.0 enough you make you want to buy this product, as it gets maximum transfer speeds of 111.8 MB/s and on average 86 MB/s. A great step over the old USB 2.0 format.

HD Tune
The test on this platform came out the same, the results on this page are basically saying. If you don’t have a HDD docking station already, or you are using a USB 2.0 model, then it’s time to upgrade, and the ICY BOX is a cool looking device to sit in the corner of your desk.
