HIS HD7870 IceQ Introduction

Today we are taking a look at the HIS HD7870 GHz Edition IceQ Turbo 2GB. HIS are taking the same designing route that the other companies are taking right now, along the lines of GPU cooling. HIS have also equipped a heatpipe design, which makes for a much more effective cooling system, and apparently especially in crossfire setups.

The HIS HD7870 has iTurbo promoted with it because this is the companies new GPU monitoring and overclocking software which is provided with this card. It is still a manual overclocking utility, but it’s very simple and easy to use. The card had a few interesting points when it came to the overclocking part of the review, and it took quite a while to find the sweet spot, but more on that in a bit.

Let us delve into the HIS HD7870 GHz Edition and check out how it arrives and what it comes with...

Packaging

The box has the usual HIS IceQ marketing colour scheme and design. We hope HIS mixes the packaging design up soon, as this design has been going on for a while now.

As far as the bundle you receive, you get a generic high mid-range contents, existing off the driver CD and iTurbo overclocking software, DVI to VGA connector and a CrossFire Bridge connector. Today’s cards are seeing more and more mini HDMI convertors with the cards, but HIS haven’t included that feature in the card model, we are hoping that HIS have effectively lower the price because of this.
