Steam’s App Now Available on iOS and Android
Valve’s steam service is now available on iOS and Android with the new free app. The app on both Android and iOS went through a beta process for a while, but things have gone well and now it has been turned into a full operational app, which can be downloaded free from the Market and App Store.
The beta version of the app has onl been out for a week now, gamers we encouraged by Steam to download the Steam Mobile app; the app is currently available to be used by anyone and everyone.
The new app takes on the same concept as the computer desktop version of the app, the app comes in the normal three main sectors - Community, Store and News.
Users will be able to keep tabs on what their "Steam friends" are playing and continue "Steam chats" away from their computer. Perfect for a spot of friendly flaming on the bus to work.
Users, more than ever can now keep in the know of which "Steam friends" are online and what they are playing on, they can even talk to them through the "Steam chat" function, and they can do all this now while out and about and away from a desktop.
You can also use Steam’s virtually browsing catalogue, they can check out what games are available, add to a wish list, or buy the games right there and then, ready to download once they get home.
Valve's president and co-founder Gabe Newell claims that Steam users have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new app, saying:
"Mobile is changing the way people interact, play games and consume media, and the Steam app is part of our commitment to meet customer demands and expand the service functionality of Steam to make it richer and more accessible for everyone."
