Sony’s, Ericsson Buyout & Future Plans
Sony has officially confirmed the buy-out of its brother Sony Ericsson, the firm bought out Ericsson with a 50% share stake in the company.
Sony bought out Ericsson for a final sum of £871 million, which was announced in October last year. Sony has taken full control of the company and has made a name change to Sony Mobile Communications.
We are very excited to see Sony start producing a whole range of their new smartphone handsets branded with their own name, if you don’t count the already Xperia S.
Sony’s Future Phones
We already have word that Sony are launching many new devices at this year MWC 2012 hosted in Barcelona. The names of such phones include the Xperia U, Xperia P and Tapioca which may be including in the preview.
Sony have made a statement saying that the new Sony Mobile Communications plans to "integrate the mobile phone business as a vital element of its electronics business, with the aim of accelerating convergence between Sony's line-up of network-enabled consumer electronics products, including smartphones, tablets, TVs and PCs".
Possibilities of Sony developing more into their Vita OS for their mobiles and tablets to integrate with the gaming device may also be just around the corner, but this is yet to be confirmed. If this is so, this will help Sony concentrate on the gaming market and consumers, which currently is taking the globe by storm.
