Amazon have made great sales with their eReader range and its now been announced that Amazon are set to release a full colour version of its touchscreen Kindle eBook reader later on in the year. The electronic paper display manufacturer has stated they have received orders from the Amazon to ship out the 6-inch full colour, touch-enabled reader modules beginning March.

Amazon have already got one full colour device on the market as you know, called the Kindle Fire. However the Kindle Fire is a touch screen glassed-based tablet device not generally an eReader. But the new full colour device will be the retail giants first full colour eReader.

The benefits of the eReader range is that they can be used in direct sunlight with complete anti-glare, unlike the Kindle Fire which is purely a tablet device. This new full colour device bridges the gap and puts two great features from the devices into one, we should see some great sales because of this.

First thoughts were that Amazon would be choosing a Qualcomm's Mirasol screen technology for the new device but it seems the E Ink display won the contract. We are yet to hear of a official release date for the Amazon Kindle Fire and Kindle Touch devices in the UK.
